Abstract

Writing ability is important to have for every student from the early age. Writing activity will provide products, one of those products is formal invitation text. The ability of writing formal invitation text is the ability which has to be mastered by the students. But, just like in every new learning activity, language learning activity will find difficulties on its implementation. The research which is used is an analysis of using words standard, especially on written text made by fifth grade students of SDN Mugasari, Tasikmalaya City. The aim of this research is to describe the kinds of un-standard words on students’ formal invitation text and its cause. This research was held as description of students’ ability in using word standard especially on formal invitation text. The researcher used descriptive analysis with qualitative approach as the method of her research. After all of the steps of methodological of this research done, it can be conclude that the results of this research are: First, the types of the un-standard word in invitation text made by the students are (1) alphabetical alternation (vowel, consonant, vowel and consonant alphabets), (2) erasing alphabet (vowel, consonant, vowel and consonant alphabets), (3) adding alphabet, (4) incorrect spelling. Second, un-standard words that depend on type of words are (1) noun (2) adjective (3) verb (4) conjunction (4) adverb. Third, the causes of un-standard word.
